this was taken at a temple in kyoto. at all the temples and shrines you can buy fortunes, and if they turn out to be bad fortunes, you tie them to a specific place in the temple (each temple is a little different) and pray that they won't come true/will be better. this particular temple was really cool to me because it was the first one where i saw the fortunes tied onto these little trees. anywayyy.
